As the Internet evolves, the activities children/youth undertake change as well. While it can be difficult to keep up with online developments, it's important that parents/guardians take a proactive approach to learning about what their children/youth enjoy doing on the Internet.

Chat Lingo

The language used in Internet messaging, emails and chatrooms is quite different than that found in books, newspapers, or in conversation. Many words have been shortened, typed phonetically, or made into acronyms. As such, it can quite confusing and difficult for parents, guardians, and educators to interpret communication between children/adolescents over the Internet.
