In May 2004, the Government of Canada announced the National Strategy for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation on the Internet. As part of this strategy, Cybertip.ca was recognized as Canada’s national tipline for reporting online child sexual exploitation.
On February 10, 2009, Canada’s Public Safety Minister announced the renewal of the National Strategy for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation on the Internet. The National Strategy provides funding to support the ongoing operation of Cybertip.ca, as well as the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre. The strategy also targets resources towards such things as increasing law enforcement’s capacity to investigate and track down online predators, and supporting further research on child sexual exploitation.
In addition to our many years of working closely with the federal government, Cybertip.ca continues to collaborate with provinces and territories across Canada on important initiatives. Whether it involves public awareness campaign to raise awareness of Cybertip.ca or the distribution of millions of copies of educational resources, our relationship with provincial and territory governments remains a critical element in the tipline’s success.
We are grateful to the following provincial entities (and crown corporations) that provide financial support to Cybertip.ca.
