Operated by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, Cybertip.ca’s mandate is to protect children from online sexual exploitation by:

  • Receiving and processing tips from the public about potentially illegal material, as well as activities regarding the online sexual exploitation of children, and referring any relevant leads to the appropriate law enforcement agency and/or child welfare agency; and
  • Providing the public with information and other resources, as well as support and referral services, to help Canadians keep themselves and their families safe while using the Internet.

Helping to Better Protect Youth Online

(December 15, 2014) It is through the Canadian Centre’s work in operating Cybertip.ca, Canada’s tipline for reporting online child sexual exploitation, that we have witnessed the growing proliferation of child sexual abuse images. In the past year alone, Cybertip.ca has assessed close to 25,000 images of child sexual abuse, over 50 per cent of which deal with children between 0 and 8 years of age.

Alert for Parents: Sextortionists Targeting Teens

(September 4, 2014) In the last few weeks, the Canadian Centre for Child Protection’s Cybertip.ca program (Canada’s national tipline for reporting the online sexual exploitation of children) has seen a concerning rise in teenagers reporting issues surrounding the sharing of sexual images/videos with adults posing as teenagers.
